Having a purpose in business can mean the difference between failure and success. Purpose, in my opinion, is the driving force behind everything we do.
Our experiences as marketing agency owners has given me insight into how important having a purpose is. I’ve seen businesses succeed and fail over the years, and while there may be any number of reasons why a particular business didn’t make it, one thing remains true: those who are successful have found their purpose.
How We Found Our Purpose
We started Hite in 2018 from the living room of our then-home. Karen and I envisioned creating something that could add value to other businesses, and we set out to do just that. We started off our Digital Marketing Agency by offering digital marketing services, but our drive for purpose kept us going in those early days.
We soon realized our mission was to help businesses understand how to build their businesses with stability and, most importantly… purpose. We were passionate about this mission and soon established ourselves as a viable digital marketing agency.
Finding Your Purpose
Only some get the chance to find their purpose immediately. This can be a personal journey that takes time to figure out. But there are some ways to ensure you’re on the right track as Digital Marketing Entrepreneurs.
Providing Value To others: For starters, always look for ways to add value to others. This can be done through your services, products, or content. Think about how your business can benefit those who use it, and ensure you’re providing something truly valuable.
Staying Focused: It can be easy to get distracted. But staying focused on your purpose and mission is crucial to success. When things seem like they’re getting difficult, remind yourself why you started this journey in the first place, and never forget about that purpose.
How, what, and why: It’s also important to consider the “how,” “what,” and “why.” Every Agency owner’s take should have a purpose behind it. When considering a decision, ask yourself how it will benefit your business, what outcome you hope to see from this decision, and why this matters.
Does your business align with your values? Finally, make sure your business aligns with your values. You’re running this business because it is something that matters to you. Ensure everything you do aligns with what matters to you and reinforces your purpose.
Maintaining your purpose
It’s essential to always have your purpose in the back of your mind as marketing agencies owners. It’s very easy to forget what matters and why you started your business in the first place. Check in with yourself regularly to ensure you stay true to your mission and purpose.
